ASCO is seeking a highly skilled Construction Superintendent to oversee the full operation of construction sites. The ideal candidate will ensure safety, efficiency, and quality in all aspects of project delivery, while coordinating with clients, project managers, and subcontractors. This role is critical for maintaining smooth operations, meeting timelines, and delivering projects that meet the highest standards.
Responsibilities
The Construction Superintendent will:
- Oversee field operations with a sharp eye for safety, quality, and efficiency
- Coordinate trades, subcontractors, and materials to ensure projects progress smoothly
- Ensure compliance with design plans, specifications, codes, and environmental standards
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients on project milestones and schedules
- Provide safety leadership and enforce safety standards on site
- Plan, schedule, and control daily construction activities
- Ensure sufficient manpower is available to meet project objectives
- Foster positive relations and effective communication with clients, consultants, architects, and subcontractors
Requirements
The preferred candidate will:
- Have at least five (5) years of experience in ICI construction
- Hold journeyman trade experience (beneficial)
- Possess Gold Seal Certification (an asset)
- Demonstrate experience working with a general contracting company
- Have delivered ICI projects such as commercial fit-ups, base buildings, and institutional projects (schools, healthcare, municipal)
- Have direct site supervision experience for projects valued between $1 million and $10 million
- Exhibit strong leadership, motivational, and mentoring skills
- Possess excellent supervision, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities
- Communicate effectively in English (oral and written)
- Be service- and results-oriented
- Be able to read and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedules
- Be eligible for security clearances and hold a valid driver’s license
- Have proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
