The Security Officer plays a critical role in safeguarding Northern Star Resources’ Pogo Mine operations in Alaska. This position ensures the safety and security of personnel, equipment, and facilities through monitoring, patrolling, and responding to incidents. Working in a remote and challenging environment, the Security Officer contributes directly to operational excellence and a safe workplace.

Responsibilities
- Patrol, monitor, and inspect mine sites for security and safety hazards
- Authorize entry and exit of employees, visitors, and contractors
- Inspect security systems, equipment, and machinery for operational integrity
- Assist with fire system inspections and site-wide emergency preparedness
- Respond to alarms and investigate disturbances
- Write detailed reports of shift activities and irregularities
- Manage site-wide keys and duty registers
- Monitor suspicious behavior and vehicle/store movements
- Provide animal hazing according to mine procedures
- Offer relief medical services in the absence of Physician Assistants
Requirements
- Experience in providing security services
- Certification and experience in firearms, wildlife hazing, and non-lethal force
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
- Effective verbal, written, and computer communication skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Industrial or occupational medical qualification preferred
- Experience in emergency and non-critical medical services in remote camp environments
- Ability to work 14-day rotational schedules in extreme and variable conditions
