Kickstart your military career as an Air Dispatcher (No Experience) with the Australian Defence Force (ADF). This role offers hands-on experience in aerial logistics, cargo handling, and air operations—no prior experience required. You’ll be part of a specialist team ensuring personnel and equipment move safely and efficiently by air.
About the Role
As an Air Dispatcher, you will work with a small team performing tasks including packing, rigging, loading, and unloading stores and equipment for all air movement modes. You’ll manually dispatch cargo from aircraft in flight, operate aerial delivery equipment, and support helicopter and fixed-wing operations across Army bases.
Key Duties
- Employ Aerial Delivery Equipment (ADE) for safe cargo transport.
- Operate specialist vehicles and material handling equipment (MHE) around military aircraft.
- Prepare and rig items for Air Cargo Delivery (ACD).
- Load and unload military aircraft, including manual dispatch of cargo in flight.
- Operate and clear cargo drop zones (DZ) and helicopter landing points/sites.
- Interpret and comply with air logistic publications.
- Develop and certify aerial delivery plans for moving personnel and assets.
Location
After initial military training, you may be posted to Army bases and units across Australia, primarily in ACT, NSW, SA, and WA.

Eligibility
- Minimum age: 17 at enlistment.
- Australian citizen with completed Year 10 (or equivalent) including English and Mathematics.
- Physically fit and able to pass a military fitness test.
- Able to obtain security clearance.
