Caregiver Job In Canada

Sunrise Senior Living is seeking a compassionate Caregiver to provide hands-on support, care, and companionship to our residents at Sunrise of Victoria. This full-time role allows you to make a meaningful impact on seniors’ lives while building strong relationships with residents, their families, and your team.

Responsibilities

Resident Care

  • Provide hands-on care and emotional support as outlined in each resident’s Individualized Service Plan (ISP).
  • Observe, document, and report changes in residents’ conditions.
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including mobility, hygiene, continence, and dining.
  • Engage residents in life enrichment programs and reminiscence activities.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.
  • Respond promptly to resident call bells and emergencies.

Risk Management and Safety

  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, PPE usage, and emergency protocols.
  • Report accidents, hazards, and exposures to supervisors immediately.

Housekeeping and Dining Support

  • Maintain resident rooms and common areas, including laundry and cleaning tasks.
  • Assist with meal service, ensuring dietary needs are met and promoting a pleasant dining experience.

Team Contribution and Training

  • Attend regular meetings and training sessions.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet care and engagement goals.
  • Demonstrate Sunrise’s Principles of Service and Core Values in daily interactions.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED (as required by state/provincial regulations).
  • CPR and First Aid certification (per regulations).
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Previous experience working with seniors preferred but not required.
  • Ability to make decisions in residents’ best interest.
  • Ability to work full-time: Sundays to Thursdays, 6am to 2pm.
