Mandarin Oriental, Doha is looking for a skilled and passionate Cook (Commis 1 – Wok Station) to join its award-winning Culinary team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to prepare authentic Asian cuisine in a luxury hotel setting while working alongside experienced chefs in a collaborative and high-performance kitchen environment.

Responsibilities

As a Commis 1 – Wok Station, your responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and executing authentic Thai and Chinese wok-based dishes with precision and consistency.
  • Completing mise en place preparation for wok service, including ingredient prep, portioning, and storage.
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and HACCP-compliant workstation at all times.
  • Working efficiently under pressure during service and coordinating with other kitchen stations.
  • Collaborating with other culinary sections, such as Sushi, Cold Kitchen, À la Carte, and Breakfast.
  • Upholding Mandarin Oriental’s grooming, uniform, and professional conduct standards.
  • Participating in kitchen briefings, operational meetings, and training to enhance skills and support a high-performance kitchen environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; formal culinary training is preferred.
  • Minimum one year of experience in an Asian restaurant or luxury hotel kitchen, with wok cooking expertise.
  • Strong knowledge of wok cooking techniques, Asian flavor profiles, and ingredient handling (especially Thai and Chinese cuisine).
  • Ability to manage time, responsibilities, and high-pressure situations effectively.
  • Effective verbal communication in English; additional languages such as Arabic are an advantage.
